His
 Holiness Ignatius Zakka-I Iwas, the Patriarch of Antioch & All the 
East and the Supreme head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church, has 
conferred the ‘St. Aphrem the Syrian’ Decoration for ‘Chevalier’ to 
Shri. Manoj Mathew Aryadanpakkal, member of the Chengalam St. Thomas JSO
 Church in Kottayam diocese. The Patriarchal medal and certificate was 
presented to Manoj Mathew by His Grace Mor Themotheos Thomas, 
Metropolitan of Kottayam Diocese, after the Holy Mass on Saturday 3rd 
March 2012 at the St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Kottayam.

 Manoj Mathew is well known as the author of innumerable number articles
 in various Church magazines in the last twenty odd years and is still 
continuing the same through ‘Visawasa Samrakashakan’, ‘The Journal of 
Kottayam diocese’ and other Church magazines & souvenirs.
Since
 1999, he is a member of the Managing Committee of the Jacobite Syrian 
Christian Church and also represents his parish in the Kottayam diocesan
 Council. He is also a central committee member of ‘Antiochya Viswasa 
Samrakshana Samithy’ for many years now. Started as a Sunday School 
teacher in 1982, he has represented the various organizations associated
 with his parish as well as the Malankara Church since 1985. He is 
presently the Joint Secretary of the Y.M.C.A., Chengalam Region.

 Manoj Mathew, son of late A M Mathew & Ponnamma Mathew, hails from 
the Aryadanpakkal family of Chengalam near Kumarakom. He is married to 
Sheeba and has two children Amal & Ajesh. After garnering the Master
 degree in Science he has worked in a private firm for a few months and 
later joined the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) and is presently 
working in its Kottayam office.
